Wolfsburg Schloss is a medieval castle in the city of Wolfsburg in eastern Lower Saxony, Germany. The first mention of the castle is found in documents from 1302. By its type, it refers to castles on the water. During the Renaissance, it was rebuilt into a luxurious palace and castle complex. Wolfsburg Castle began with a residential stone tower on the Aller River, then turned into a strong fortress surrounded by a ring wall and a moat. After reconstruction, it was a vivid example of the Weser Renaissance. The founder and owner of the castle for a long time was the noble family of von Bartensleben. After this family stopped in 1742, the castle became the property of the counts of Schulenburg
