The blast furnace in the "Angeliv" tract, located on the territory of the Rozhnyativ district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, is the only monument of ancient culture produced in the 19th century in Ukraine, preserved in a condition suitable for restoration.[youtube]XxJ0enbOm0k[/youtube]
It was built in 1810 with the assistance of the Greek-Catholic Metropolitan A. Angelovich, hence the name of the settlement "Angeliv". The stone walls of the furnace reach more than 3 meters in places. The hole through which cast iron was poured is the height of a man. On the inner walls, the fire permanently welded slag to the stones. Small shutters — openings in the upper part of the house and passages in the lower one — served to pump air with the help of a bellows, which was driven by a water wheel. A channel for water, which was supplied from the Limnytsia River, has also been preserved.
