The place where the ancestors of the people were born is always considered sacred. Among the Bahama people, this is the cave of Fovu (La grotte sacrée Fovu).

The sacred cave of Baham is a field of granite rocks under which dark spaces are used for rites.
The Fovu cave designates a set of natural cavities and a sacred site of purification, washings and mystical practices in Baham , in Bamileke country, in Cameroon in the West region. It is the place where the royal line communicates with the spirits.Vast area of rocks, wooded vegetation and underground streams , the populations also perform rituals and sacrifices. You can visit the caves only accompanied by a local shaman (we had a woman).
The imposing grayish masses of granite, in the shape of potatoes, are up to 15 meters high. Scattered in the vegetation, the vast field of granite rocks extends over approximately 15 hectares and offers natural shelters conducive to the various ritual practices.

The cathedral , the largest rock, seems to be placed in a vacuum, without suspension pillars. It reaches 40 m long, 20 m wide, 15 m high and covers an area of 100-150 m 2 that can accommodate dozens of people.
