The ancestors of the locals lived long before Becici became a popular resort. Evidence of this is the Orthodox Church of St. Thomas the Apostle or, as the inhabitants of Montenegro call it, the Church of St. Tome (Crkva Svetog Tome).[youtube]vRnzpVHvh5E[/youtube]
The temple is located on the top of a small hill, in a quiet and picturesque place between century-old pines and dense cypresses, towering over the Adriatic coast and Becici beach.[youtube]9XTMfkWwVVg[/youtube]
According to many sources, the church was built in the 14th century in an architectural style typical of the surrounding areas and was dedicated to the Apostle St. Thomas. Unfortunately, the original, ancient temple was destroyed at the beginning of the last century. The temple that we see now was erected from white hewn stone on the foundations of an ancient church in 1910. You can go to the Church of St. Tom the Apostle both from the side of the Becici beach area, and from the side of the Jadransky road (E-65) in the direction from Budva to the island of Sveti Stefan.
