Bath Abbey of Saints Peter and Paul is an Anglican church and former Benedict monastery in Bath, Somerset.
The abbey was founded in the second half of the 7th century. Construction began after 675, when Osric, King of Hvikke allocated land for a nunnery. Almost nothing is known about the architecture of the first buildings.After the conquest of England by the Normans, a 101 m long Norman church was built in the monastery. The modern building, 49 m high, was built on the site of the Norman cathedral in 1495-1611. Today it is one of the most famous Gothic buildings in Southern England. [youtube]OpE0zUSnLCA[/youtube]
