Located in the heart of Old Quebec, the Basilica-Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Quebec welcomes many visitors throughout the year. It is classified as a historic monument of Quebec and Canada and is part of the historic district of Old Quebec, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Notre-Dame de Québec is the oldest diocesan see in America north of Mexico. It is also the oldest parish church in North America . It was the first church to be elevated to the rank of minor basilica by Pope Pius IX on August 28, 1874. [youtube]fbNJgtT2eAE[/youtube]
The first construction at the current location of the cathedral dates from 1647 under the name of Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix church, the first mass was celebrated there in 1650 .

A place of prayer and celebration bringing together large and small groups, the cathedral also presents a few concerts, recitals and exhibitions during the year. There is the tomb of Saint François de Laval, a holy door and a large reliquary of the saints and blesseds of Canada.
